The Jerusalem Scavenger Hunts are the perfect combination of fun, adventure, learning and inspiration!
In teams, with maps, mission packs, source sheets (and more) in hand, your group will navigate its way through the streets and alleys, learning for themselves, racing against each other and engaging with the story of Jerusalem and its people. This is facilitated and supervised by a Jerusalem Scavenger Hunt madrich/a.
The Jerusalem Scavenger Hunts are great for kids, teens, students and adult groups. It is great for Jewish groups of all types and for non- Jewish groups as well. We run programs for family groups, Bar/bat Mitzvah groups, community/synagogue missions, school groups and college students.
Who runs Jerusalem Scavenger Hunts?
Tali Tarlow: Long time educator and informal educator, I am a mother of 4 kids who want to have fun! I have been developing curriculum and educational programs both in and out of the classroom for the past 20 years. My goal is always to blend a meaningful and educational experience with pure fun! I made Aliyah from South Africa AND from England (don’t ask – it’s too complicated) and I live in Elazar, Gush Etzion, with my husband, kids and dog. Nachlaot Scavenger Hunt
The Nachlaot Neighborhood is where some of Israel’s most well known political, cultural and religious leaders grew up – yet it is one of Jerusalem’s best kept secrets. In this Scavenger Hunt you will meet the characters, see the sites and feel the unique vibe of the neighborhood. The Nachlaot Scavenger hunt is the first of the Jerusalem Scavenger Hunt series and continues to amaze and inspire hundreds of participants each year.
Old City Scavenger Hunt
On this Scavenger Hunt you will hear the story of a 3000 year old capital. You will uncover the events of a city’s emergence,
destruction and rebirth – against all odds. There was one person who foresaw it all and his vision is written in stone – who is that person? What is the tale of the ancient city? You will discover it all on the Old City Scavenger Hunt.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Scavenger Hunts
A Jerusalem Scavenger Hunt is a fantastic activity – both fun and meaningful – as part of your Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration. This is a very popular idea for a family celebration, or a friends party.
Jerusalem Watchman Scavenger Hunt
This route is designed for Christian visitors to Jerusalem who want to discover and be inspired by the story of an ancient city of Prophets and Kings, Rabbi’s and ordinary folk who built their homes in Jerusalem and strove to live in peace. With maps, mission packs, information sheets and lots of other paraphernalia in hand, participants will explore the streets and sites of Mount Zion and the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. Participants will meet the people and visit the places that bear testimony to a city which has seen devastating destruction and miraculous rebirth. Highlights on this route include King David’s Tomb, learning the story of the Hurva Synagogue, finding the Menorah that is ready to be used in the Third Temple – and many more exciting discoveries!
